The Public Service Fale was pleased to support the Tonga Public Service Commission during August to advance the Tonga public service training programme development during a week-long visit to Nuku’alofa.
Development of a fit for purpose training curriculum for all levels of the public service, led by the Tonga Public Service Commission, contributes to the goal of a professional, modern Tonga public service focused on strengthening public trust and confidence in the delivery of Tonga public services.
The Fale worked with Tonga Public Service officials, CEO Tu'uhetoka DCEO Vaka'uta and Sulieti Pulu, supported by Chair Tai’atu Ata’ata on developing a strategic roadmap containing the vision, strategic outcomes and delivery plan for the public service training programme.
The training curriculum to be developed as part of the programme will contain training options for all levels of the public service from induction/ early in career, to middle management and lead technicians through to senior management and CEO level. Online and in person training modules will be developed.
The Fale also engaged with the DFAT-funded Tonga Australia Support Platform (TASP) who have been involved in developing the concept of a public service training Academy with the Tonga PSC over the past 12 months.
The Fale was supported during our visit by the NZ High Commission.
